Protecting Pets from Disease Causing Parasites

Fleas, mites and worms are parasites that live on the outside or inside of pets. They are at best an irritant for pets and their owners and at their worst they can cause disease that in rare cases can be life threatening, such as lungworm.

Thankfully there are products available that will protect your pets from these parasites as long as they are used regularly. They are so much easier to easy to prevent than treat that we always recommend prevention rather than cure and we offer very comprehensive flea, worm and mite prevention treatments as standard to keep pets better protected.

Our vets and veterinary nurses will discuss the most appropriate treatment to keep your pet protected from the particular risks locally.

The Most Effective Prevention and Treatment is only Available on Veterinary Prescription

  • Preventative treatment must be carried out regularly to be fully effective
  • Dogs can become infected with lungworm by eating garden slugs or snails
  • Only 5% of a flea infestation lives on the pet – 95% live in the pet’s environment – i.e. your home!

How Pets Become Infected

Pets can very easily become infected with fleas and worms by coming into contact with infected animals or infected premises, ingestion of eggs or larvae or in the case of lungworm from eating slugs and snails.
